Deadpan ultraviolence

Hey The-Mercenary,

--Production--
The animations aren't of the highest quality, nor the most smooth, but the story is mostly told in screenshots as if in a book. I was fond of this way of telling the tale, backed by a papery texture and extremely deadpan voiceover. A stylish combination.

--Experience--
The whole affair is very unsettling, yet funny at the same time. You keep hoping for the "Chozen 1" to win against Fusushi Tuna, and each time it seems as if that's about to happen, but it doesn't. This constant dashing of hopes is successful, and at the very end, it shocks you so much that you are almost repulsed. That can be a good or bad quality.

--Style--
The deadpan quality of your voice combined with the hyperviolent nature of the story provides an interesting dynamic. The only thing I might change is your almost offensive comments about the slenderness of Chinese eyes.

--Wow Factor--
The original impression is underwhelming, however as the story goes on, it gets more and more interesting. By the end you are engrossed by the plot twists and turns so that you are mesmerized by the movie. This provides a degree of amazement.

--Personal Tilt--
I was not sure whether to be amused or repulsed at some points during this flash. It's an interesting blend of dynamics that produce a certain type of humour, which may not be my type of humour. But at least it is original and an exciting step in a new direction. Well done.

Heartfelt and Dark

Hey funkycaveman,

--Production--
The art was brilliant and the animation amazingly smooth. Considering the time frame required, small lapses such as the weird blowing of the hair in the wind, and the inconsistent looping of the rain sample, are overlooked. You have done great for the time required.

--Experience--
The flash was slow-moving, and emotional, right until the very end. It set up the mood perfectly for the shocking ending, which I believe was apt. The cruelty of the ending was haunting, and raw. However, the pace could have still been improved, since at some points it feels more than achingly slow.

--Style--
The style was emotional and heartfelt, a flash to ponder over rather than critically analyze. It had interesting soulful benefits, such as the examination of a friendship, "the only unsinkable ship". It was very stylish and well presented.

--Wow Factor--
There was a certain wow factor with the slick animation and the wonderful characterisation, but I felt we could have been more intimately involved with the characters. Maybe something outside the montage of specific things they did, like make a fire, going out for a fly, or feeding the bird. That would enhance the relationship even further.

--Personal Tilt--
I liked the forward-thinking nature of this. In the age of egoraptor flashes and "asdfmovie3"s, there doesn't seem much room for thinking movies like this. That's why I like the daring nature of this piece and its willingness to go past the norm. Well done.

Thanks for the review. You clearly understand the difficulties of animating something with only 48 hours to do so. We will take all of your comments into consideration, this will improve future flashes created by use, as part of a team or not.

Very funny.

Hey Smorgishmorg,

--Production--
The quiz is greatly polished and a breeze to play through. It's easy and fun as you go along, and you have no idea of the surprise that is coming. The cursor is nice and simple, and very responsive. Overall very well-produced.

--Experience--
The main experience that I delighted in in this game was the surprise factor at the end. I thought I was going to be someone like "Egoraptor" or "JohnnyUtah", but I was surprised to see my own name. Love it!

--Style--
The style of the questions was easy to answer as there were no REAL answers. The joke about all of us being male was quite a humorous one, and none of the jokes were over-the-top trying-to-be-funny. I think egoraptor's finally fell for that trap.

--Wow Factor--
There's a sense of polish and brisk carefree fun to be had here, and even though this is a small game it is a fun one. The only thing is that it has no replay value, except to see what other questions there are. Suggestion: minigames?

--Personal Tilt--
I actually really liked this one. It was funny, likeable, and unpredictable. The lightness of the questions and the slick production led to a simple and happy quiz which ended satisfyingly. Well done.

Club Banger

Hey DavidRx,

--Production--
A very slick production, with a nice kick and synths panning to either side. The build-up at the beginning, as SCTE3 commented, was very sinister and almost creepy. But once it got into it, things got real RAVE up in here and it just sounded like something anyone could dance to.

--Experience--
Things don't get repetitive, there's no need to assume that. With your voice samples cutting things up, there's a lot of variation here, and it makes things interesting. It's better with headphones on, however, since it really encompasses how the panning is going on better than speakers.

--Style--
There was a certain nasty comment that is being made, as you say, "bruno, ex gay", which is kind of immature when you first think of it. But then you realise that the beat doesn't care, and that adds to the environment. It adds to that feeling that when you're listening to music like this, you shouldn't care what is being said, you just dance.

--Wow Factor--
There's certainly the kick drum which just emanates throughout the whole song and I swear makes up about 50% of the song's volume (xD). The bass is very nice and varies throughout the ears, which makes a very surreal sound.

--Personal Tilt--
I actually very much enjoyed the brash nature of this beat, that steamrolls anything in its way, even insults. I thank you for sharing this with me.

Really danceable.

Hey ReklessCreati0n,

--Production--
I feel what is produced, is fairly well produced. Everything is nice and crisply produced, with some beautiful sidechaining. (that kick is gorgeous) What I feel it needs is some special effects that pique the listener's interest, for instance, random lasers, bigger and more random swish effects. You can be minimalistic, but at least if you are, you have to put SOME special FX in there.

--Experience--
It sways along through different stages of thought throughout the song. There are different synths, with nice pads coming in and out, and sudden drops to ambient music, with an isolated kick. These are formulas which the trance genre has used for decades, and you pull it off with aplomb here with techno.

--Style--
Very danceable tune, and I like that you are instructing us to jump inside your mind, as if this isn't a club track. But what I see here is a very viable club track, a standard one, in fact.

--Wow Factor--
I liked how interesting the chord progressions were, when they seemed to go 4/4, but were in pairs of 3. Ah, do you know what I mean? The synths faded in and out nicely, with a lot of beautiful automation clips and filters that indicates professionalism.

--Personal Tilt--
I was pleased with this, it seemed like standard trance/techno fare, except with interesting chord progressions and lots of nice, quick states to transition between. You seem to keep the listener well in mind, with lots of changes to keep even the attention deficit listening. Thanks for letting me listen.

Pretty Spacey (kinda like Kevin)

Hey ganon95,

--Experience--
You actually feel like you're drifting through space. With the slow pads and the nice trumpet-like voice, you are lifted by reverb through a plethora of stars and galaxies. It also loops very nicely.

--Production--
Mostly top notch, with a great atmosphere generated by ambient pads. Some pads seeming like they go on for too long, so it ruins the overall feel of the song, makes it seem more computerised.

--Style--
The lightness of the little bouncing voice (like a vibraphone or xylophone) contrasted with the moody synths creates a spaced-out feeling. It's ambient music that lifts you up. However, if there was a recurring motif that you could remember this song by, it might stick in my mind after I've listened to it.

--Wow Factor--
There is great production here, and a nice mixture of sounds to make you feel like you're in the galaxies treading the moons and planets. That initiates a general "wow" factor, however it grows a little stale or dry as it goes on as a lack of interesting things take place.

--Personal Tilt--
I was a fan of the vibe, but I found it a bit boring. I would have liked to hear some more exciting riffs or motifs carried on for a longer period of time, and some buildup to a different stage, instead of staying at the same level the entire piece. It might be nice background for a game, but it would also get repetitive and/or annoying. Overall, though, a very well done piece. Thanks for sharing.

Gloomy darkness

Hey MasterMerol,

--Production--
I can see that this painting might be relatively connected to your other one, in that the sand angel with her friend being taken away, cries. It certainly looks like she's crying with the thick, blackened eyes and her sombre posture. The combination of pastel-like textures and clean-cut lines portrays a sense of an urban fantastical myth.

--Experience--
There is the sense of doom and gloom as the air starts to surround the crescent moon. The shape of the clouds is almost akin to the sand dunes below, like little baby eels swimming through the sky. Everything seems almost myth like. I also like her curls. :3

--Style--
I am still not sure what texture you're using, but it looks like it's on some sort of bumpy paper. Ah, yes, and then I read one of your tags: Pastel. Golly, I don't really know that much about art at all, then, do I? Anyway, I do my best. Her slumping position is reflected by her looking at her knees attached to the ground, wishing to be able to fly away to save her friend.

--Wow Factor--
This brings emotion with it as we realise we feel compassion with the angel in her plight. If you connected this one with your other pic, "Angels", then it would make better sense for the viewer I think. There's a lot more darkness in this picture rather than the other, which was more of panic and despair.

--Personal Tilt--
I couldn't find much to flaw in this one, it's a very great piece of doom and gloom within the angel's soul. She is sad and gloomy, and we feel her pain. And if that's the goal of your illustration, then you've succeeded.

--Style--
I used Canson paper, it's thick and has a lot of texture!

Like a Fable

Hey MasterMerol,

--Production--
The textures very and are really nice contrasting. It seems like an old painting, one of like a lore of old times. However, it has that modern, almost emo feel to it (I hope you excuse the word) and it has emotional ties to it too. There's a mixture of clear cut lines, and smudgy paints, which I think is good.

--Experience--
There is the one angel, who seems to be tied to the ground by sand, and the other angel, who seems to be tied by a rope round the neck, wings burning. The sand angel is trying to save the roped angel, but can't seem to reach. It portrays a kind of love lost, an emotion that is universal, and allows us to connect with the character.

--Style--
Very fable-esque, like telling a story through a painting of what happened in myth. The nudity I don't think people will find offensive, since it reminds me of the old Roman and Greek paintings (or whatever) when they had gods who were painted naked but not necessarily with erotic desires.

--Wow Factor--
There is the sense of professionalism that draws you in, that this is a well polished art with a story to tell. I felt the X factor mostly because of the above reasons, and the atmosphere that these elements, fused together, generated.

--Personal Tilt--
It's a great painting with large emotional tug along with it. Some people might find the nudity offensive; I myself did not, even though I am particularly keen to shun that kind of sexuality. It helps portray the story of two angels ripped apart of their friendship with an almost-chance of hope, diminished. Thanks for sharing with us your beautiful art.

--Style--
Yeah, the nudity I really don't know why would they find it offensive since I wasn't going for anything erotic.

--Wow Factor--
Thank you, but i'm not a professional at all!
I'm glad you felt that way.

--Personal Tilt--
I don't see anything wrong with nudity. I'm ok with it as long as it's not free.
Thanks for saying it's beautiful!

THANK YOU FOR THE AWESOME REVIEW!!

Improvement needed, but hey

Hey Spysociety,

--Production--
It's fairly good, with some minor difference between the quality of the lightning bolt, the tower itself, and the other elements. I like the clear cut lines of the tower, but I feel that the rest of it should be that way, since the lightning is a bit blurred. It even seems as if it's moving in front of my eyes. (Gotta stop drugs :P)

--Experience--
Dark and gloomy, with an epic fantasy feel to it (and I'm not talking about the game). I wonder if there's even people living in there, and if they would need to evacuate since the lightning is getting dangerously close. Nice light and smoke effects make this more ambient and atmospheric, as if at a great height.

--Style--
The mood of the piece is dark and well portrayed, however I think there's a large contrast between shadows and different light effects. For example, the light band diagonally across the bottom right doesn't really seem to fit in, unless it's a cloud really close up. There isn't much detail in the tower, either, it could be improved by some texture effects beyond a simple light gradient.

--Wow Factor--
I wasn't exactly excited about this art, but I wasn't repulsed either. It's fair art that needs a few tweaks, and perhaps something else interesting to look at. Because right now it's just a tower and some lightning, with a lot of empty space in the bottom right corner. You could possibly have a plane or helicopter, or even a guy parachuting. It would make things really interesting.

--Personal Tilt--
I like it, but I think it could be improved. You could add some elements, add texture to the tower e.g. stone bricks, put some more interesting and logical light effects in, and it would be extremely professional. It's still professional now, but I could see this reaching the sky with potential. Excuse the pun ;)

Well, I think you're a bit right, I thought adding a bit of light in the building sides but it would be a bit too colorful, I prefered to have the things a bit more dark.

Hey thanks! Glad you liked it! :) As you can see, there are some windows "yellow-ish" which probably means that there is someone using light there, so there is people inside hehe :)

I think that the bricks aren't necessary at all, isn't a "poor" building, he is more well constructed so the bricks like "out of place" aren't at all necessary but the light optics effects could improve it more.
