Club Banger

Hey DavidRx,

--Production--
A very slick production, with a nice kick and synths panning to either side. The build-up at the beginning, as SCTE3 commented, was very sinister and almost creepy. But once it got into it, things got real RAVE up in here and it just sounded like something anyone could dance to.

--Experience--
Things don't get repetitive, there's no need to assume that. With your voice samples cutting things up, there's a lot of variation here, and it makes things interesting. It's better with headphones on, however, since it really encompasses how the panning is going on better than speakers.

--Style--
There was a certain nasty comment that is being made, as you say, "bruno, ex gay", which is kind of immature when you first think of it. But then you realise that the beat doesn't care, and that adds to the environment. It adds to that feeling that when you're listening to music like this, you shouldn't care what is being said, you just dance.

--Wow Factor--
There's certainly the kick drum which just emanates throughout the whole song and I swear makes up about 50% of the song's volume (xD). The bass is very nice and varies throughout the ears, which makes a very surreal sound.

--Personal Tilt--
I actually very much enjoyed the brash nature of this beat, that steamrolls anything in its way, even insults. I thank you for sharing this with me.

Really danceable.

Hey ReklessCreati0n,

--Production--
I feel what is produced, is fairly well produced. Everything is nice and crisply produced, with some beautiful sidechaining. (that kick is gorgeous) What I feel it needs is some special effects that pique the listener's interest, for instance, random lasers, bigger and more random swish effects. You can be minimalistic, but at least if you are, you have to put SOME special FX in there.

--Experience--
It sways along through different stages of thought throughout the song. There are different synths, with nice pads coming in and out, and sudden drops to ambient music, with an isolated kick. These are formulas which the trance genre has used for decades, and you pull it off with aplomb here with techno.

--Style--
Very danceable tune, and I like that you are instructing us to jump inside your mind, as if this isn't a club track. But what I see here is a very viable club track, a standard one, in fact.

--Wow Factor--
I liked how interesting the chord progressions were, when they seemed to go 4/4, but were in pairs of 3. Ah, do you know what I mean? The synths faded in and out nicely, with a lot of beautiful automation clips and filters that indicates professionalism.

--Personal Tilt--
I was pleased with this, it seemed like standard trance/techno fare, except with interesting chord progressions and lots of nice, quick states to transition between. You seem to keep the listener well in mind, with lots of changes to keep even the attention deficit listening. Thanks for letting me listen.

Pretty Spacey (kinda like Kevin)

Hey ganon95,

--Experience--
You actually feel like you're drifting through space. With the slow pads and the nice trumpet-like voice, you are lifted by reverb through a plethora of stars and galaxies. It also loops very nicely.

--Production--
Mostly top notch, with a great atmosphere generated by ambient pads. Some pads seeming like they go on for too long, so it ruins the overall feel of the song, makes it seem more computerised.

--Style--
The lightness of the little bouncing voice (like a vibraphone or xylophone) contrasted with the moody synths creates a spaced-out feeling. It's ambient music that lifts you up. However, if there was a recurring motif that you could remember this song by, it might stick in my mind after I've listened to it.

--Wow Factor--
There is great production here, and a nice mixture of sounds to make you feel like you're in the galaxies treading the moons and planets. That initiates a general "wow" factor, however it grows a little stale or dry as it goes on as a lack of interesting things take place.

--Personal Tilt--
I was a fan of the vibe, but I found it a bit boring. I would have liked to hear some more exciting riffs or motifs carried on for a longer period of time, and some buildup to a different stage, instead of staying at the same level the entire piece. It might be nice background for a game, but it would also get repetitive and/or annoying. Overall, though, a very well done piece. Thanks for sharing.

Exquisite

Hey blackattackbiarch,

--Production--
Very well produced, with clean crisp shakers and nice orchestral elements. I like the flutes and the vibraphone/xylophone in particular. The flutes and other woodwind instruments are light and realistic, and they just tip toe along like nobody's business.

--Experience--
This song has that "hunting in the royal palace backyard" feel about it. It reminds me of Swan Princess, when they are hunting for the men with targets on them, that's the sort of emotions I felt when I watched that movie.

--Style--
It's light and vibrant, with excellent little chops of piano, flute, brass or whatever is needed. It has a quick tempo, which adds to the vibrancy and 'popping' nature of the piece.

--Wow Factor--
Everything is so beautifully composed. I couldn't help but feel amazed at the quickness of everything changing and just melding beautifully together. Your mastery with composition is unlike much of what I've heard on NG.com. Well done!

--Personal Tilt--
As the little girl in Despicable Me says, "It's so fluffy, I could die!" I'm sorry if you haven't watched that movie, but the texture that came to mind when I listened to this song was "fluffy". Like clouds in the sky, without a care in the world. It reminds me of professional compositions. You should be proud.

Wow, thanks dude! This was probably my favorite composition to make, one of the only songs that actually made me laugh and smile as I wrote it. If it made you want to wear a shit-eating grin, don't be surprised because it made me want to do the same!

Basically, the fact that you and SCTE3 like it is the best news I've heard all day.

Still Learning

Hey Vakarnakt,

--Production--
Indeed things seem very "slapped together" with murky instruments folding in and out of each other without care. However, the drums were crisp and loud, mostly, and they were bangin'! But it has that whole vibe of lacking effort and no real experience. Good for a first track though :)

--Experience--
This track goes through several different stages of melody and "banging" to create a sense of direction, however this direction can be disorientating, since we have no idea where we're going or what the beat is doing. For those who enjoy to ride a rollercoaster in the dark pitch black, this would be the song that plays along with it.

--Style--
It's erratic and very weird, with lots of different phases and drum beats just slapped together. It's a mish mash of all these different elements, which at times can seem confusing or not professional. However you have a certain creative spark that can be used to create good beats. Keep it up!

--Wow Factor--
From the beginning we sense that there is not much care for melody in this piece, with the clashing loops and erratic samples. From the beginning I was unimpressed, mostly because things changed too fast for me to comprehend or my ear to follow.

--Personal Tilt--
I wasn't a big fan of the erratic nature of this piece, how it darts here and there without warning, but it was still an energetic ride that deserves credit. There is very crisp drums, and an overall sense of "bangin"-ness, if that makes sense (:P). Thanks for sharing that, and well done.

Very bouncy, poppy stars

Hey pokerockmario,

--Production--
Pretty slick and darn attractive. The drums are crisp, the lead catchy. I felt that in the build up things got too loud compared to the beginning, there needs to be some consistency of volume throughout. Also, when the beat came in, it felt as if everything was going too fast for it to be DnB, but these are just minor irks for otherwise impressive production skills.

--Experience--
The song drifts through different melodies, from flutes to pianos to other voices, and the drums just bang along like nobody's business. There is a certain steadiness throughout the whole thing that is punctuated by voices. The only downside to this is that it can seem same-ish or lacking variety. But you seem to balance that fairly well.

--Style--
The style has a no-holds-barred bangin' beat, but behind it lay some tranquil orchestration, which is interesting. I quite liked the lightness of the song, how it just bounced along without stopping for anything or anyone.

--Wow Factor--
I am wowed by the production skills and the composition of the beat. It brings a level of amazement, that X factor. You accurately depict the night stars, with the tinkering melodies, and the bridge part that goes slow starting 4:15-ish. Being able to sense the mood of the listener is key.

--Personal Tilt--
I quite liked it. It was bouncy, poppy, and well produced. All in all a great beat that would not be a bad repeat listen. Thanks for sharing with us!

Wildly experimental, to the point of unease

Hey EmceeWhatE,

--Production--
Interestingly erratic, with phasing lasers in either ear, an off-key synthy lead, and suprisingly low drums level for the majority of the song. There is still a 'full' sound about it, however it lacks a certain 'anchoring' factor that locks our eardrums into full listen'n'enjoy mode.

--Experience--
Very disorientating, well made, and an assault on the ears. It's an experimental "Carnival" piece that goes all over the place, and almost manages to be catchy. However, the ears are caught so off-guard that there is no attachment to the song, except perhaps in the "bridgy" 1:15-ish period.

--Style--
Wildly erratic, noisy, and full of bombastic passion, Meat Eaters takes us through the world of Dub, DnB, breakbeat in a no-holds-barred funkfest. The carnival theme adds to the element of insanity, which is a likeable trait to some ears.

--Wow Factor--
I wasn't particularly wowed by this, mostly because of its excessively erratic nature, to the point of not really "sticking" to any palate in my eardrums. It does have the vibe of an all-out carnivore, however, which is an interesting feat in and of itself.

--Personal Tilt--
I slightly enjoyed this piece, but nothing really "stuck" for me, even though I was marvelling at how well it was made, and the sounds that were coming through my ears. The "carnival" theme could have been backed up by samples of kids laughing and playing in the background, or even the "meat eaters" theme with samples of meat being chewed. I don't know, be creative. Thanks for letting me listen.

Light poppy fresh orchestration.

Hey reel2,

--Production--
It's light and poppy, a happy feel-good orchestratic assembly. The drums, strings, brass, and other orchestratic elements meld well, however there might be some issues with something like attack and release? I'm not too sure, but it sounds like not everything is quantised right. Maybe reduce the swing factor? Sorry if I'm not making sense.

--Experience--
It's very nice, and reminds me of epic Nintendo themes. They might even accept it for something like Wii music or something :P. But it's mostly a journey through various phases of thought, with nice chord progressions and composition. It immediately hits you that a lot of effort has gone into this 3 minutes.

--Style--
A breath of fresh air in the sea of down-trodden NG submissions. A light breeze through the window, you might say. There is a lightness about the song that lifts you up to a higher place. That would be aided by the nice pizzicato strings, and the vibraphones I think. I may be wrong.

--Wow Factor--
There is certainly that amazement when you realise that you're dealing with someone who knows how to compose for an orchestra to produce feelings that they have controlled. This song serves a distinct purpose and vibe, and it's very specific and viable.

--Personal Tilt--
I was thoroughly impressed with this submission mainly because of its quality of composition and the light, breezy feel and vibe. I enjoyed it from beginning to end as an epic orchestration along the lines of candy floss and merry-go-rounds. Well done.

Beautifully transparent piano piece

Hey Cimba,

--Production--
A single voice with plenty of nice reverb/delay effects. I honestly didn't realise it was a computer voice until about half way through. The dynamics are fairly nice and non-abrupt, but sometimes you feel like there is not enough variance in velocities, esp. in the LH. It also loops well.

--Experience--
It was nice and soothing, with nice differences in loudness. There are little to no changes in tempo, however, and I would have liked to see that. Also, in my mind, there needs to be more of a fullness about the song. Perhaps it's just too quiet.

--Style--
It's nice and soothing, which is achieved by the combination of reverb and changes in volume. Your composition is very nice and changes throughout. It's very classical, using some nice arpeggios, however at the same time it's modern, using modern beats and quickness of change.

--Wow Factor--
Most of seems like, "wow, this is beautiful", but after a while, you feel like "where is this going?" I think we need a change in tempo, or a recurring motif if you know what I mean. I'm not sure if you did, but you can try writing it in Sonata form, Introduce-Expose-Develop-Recapitulate -Coda. But that's just my 10 cents.

--Personal Tilt--
Thanks very much for sharing this with us. It's a very beautiful piece and might need a few touches, but is mostly emotional and transparent. I enjoyed the whole 2 minutes 40. Well done.

Amazingly composed and beautifully mastered

Hey Stargenx,

--Production--
Everything in this song fits together nicely. The orchestration is brilliantly mixed and mastered to produce plenty of that "full" sound that unprofessional songs lack. The soulful piano has that particular place that cuts through the noise, with emotional riffs.

--Experience--
This song has many states that the mind drifts into as it listens. I could see this as the orchestration to a movie, something as a plot unfolds, or a moment where it seems like there is no hope, but one must go on. I would be very excited to see this in a flash about hope and despair.

--Style--
It's very emotional and deep, and goes through several different stages. You know very well how to transition between high and low moods, for example when you go from all-out orchestra, guns blazing, to a sweet echo-y piano that you love. It's those beautiful moments that make the song.

--Wow Factor--
The last song I listened to of yours, "Love and Pain", I believed, was superbly produced, and wonderfully arranged, but lacked that X Factor that I wanted. That piece was minimalistic, but I would call this maximalistic. It's epic, it's grand, and encompasses a grander range of feelings than "Love and Pain" ever did. It brings that amazement with it.

--Personal Tilt--
I was thoroughly impressed with the general oversight of this song, that you knew where it was going and where you were going to lead us in your little "world" of your own. Thanks for sharing that with us.
